The liberation of the womb
Today, I felt the need to move the energy. There was a heaviness in my body, and I could feel how it was making me withdraw, avoid things, and find excuses not to move. So I decided to do something simple: move my body and see what happened.
I began with gentle movements, stretching, and a few exercises to encourage the energy to flow. But I wasn’t doing them mechanically. I approached them as a meditation, listening to my body and allowing it to tell me what it needed. I moved instinctively, without a plan or a particular outcome in mind. One movement led to another, each exercise revealing the next, as though my body were following a thread I could not quite see but somehow knew how to trust.
And then, almost without realizing it, I found myself moving through a complete practice of the Magical Passes, The Series for the Womb. My body remembered this practice, that my mind had not thought to ask for.
When I finished, I felt so much more open, fresh, and clear inside. I began to contemplate how curious it was that, from such a simple intention to move my energy, my body had guided me so precisely to this particular practice.
Only a few days ago, I did this acupuncture treatment centred on nurturing, containment, and the mother archetype. A protocol filled with the feeling of being held, safe enough to open, and connected to life, like a child resting in the womb of Dao. And now, somehow, I had found my way to a practice devoted to the womb itself.
Coincidence? Magic?
The ancient shamans of Mexico had this unique view of the womb and were deeply interested in what they called the liberation of the womb.
They believed the womb had a purpose beyond creating life. It also held the potential for human evolution. They saw it as a doorway to a different kind of knowing, one that allows us to perceive and understand the world directly, without the mind constantly explaining what we experience.
For these shamans, evolution meant learning to see the energy that moves through the universe. It meant discovering a way of perceiving life beyond what we have been taught to recognize, becoming aware of what is happening around us in a more direct and natural way.
They believed women had a particular advantage in this journey because of their wombs, which they saw as a natural source of this kind of perception. Yet they also believed that this ability often remained undiscovered, simply because no one had told people that seeing energy directly was possible.
They believed women had a unique way of perceiving the world, each with her own way of seeing and understanding energy. The liberation of the womb, in their view, was about awakening this hidden potential and discovering a deeper way of knowing, one that had been within us all along.
The mind is so accustomed to naming things, arranging them into familiar categories, and filtering the world through the stories it already knows. But what happens when we loosen our grip on these interpretations? When we allow perception to become less about thinking our way through reality and more about being present to it?
Today, I set out simply to move the energy that felt stuck inside me. I had no idea that this small intention would lead me back to the womb, to a practice my body remembered, or to these reflections on perception, creation, and the mysterious intelligence that moves through us.
And I am left wondering how much of our path reveals itself in this way — not through force or deliberate seeking, but through a quiet willingness to listen.
Something deep inside out being knows how to find its way home long before the mind.
